142 Boston mayhem

Thursday 18th April  Miles Today 114 Total 321
Just a quick message to let you know that we are both safe and well. I don't know what news you are receiving from Boston, but we are safely on the other side of town from where everything has been happening.  It is 1am in the morning here, so we will do a full blog in the morning our time.

So, we had a very scenic drive along the New England coast and into Boston.

Winter lasted a long time her, as it did in the UK. Its snowing a couple of hundred miles Northeast of us.
There was a lot of support for the bombing victims.

Ahhhh.....Bailey bridge. Memories of my Army days.

Downtown Boston. A serious Irish flavour here.

Dinner. Typically American. These were starters that we could not finish !
As many of you know, only 4 days ago, 2 bombs were set off at the finish point of the Boston Marathon. As such the city has been closed at the bomb site were and only opened today following a visit from President Obama. The city and its Police are on high alert and these are some of the pictures we took.

We then went to see Fleetwood Mac in concert at this arena. Funny thing is, yesterday, we were watching an Ice Hockey match between Boston and Toronto at this very same stadium. Bizarre.

The stadium/Arena. The bridge to the right leads to an area called Cambridge. More on this later.
The concert was brilliant.

Lyndsay Beckingham. Awesome guitar solo.

Stevie Nicks

Mick Fleetwood

The symbol Boston is using to support its victims.

A Boston night scene.

When we came out of the arena the police were gone. We found out after getting back to our hotel that a Police officer had been murdered in the Cambridge area, on the other side of the city, by one of the suspects for the Monday bombings. All hell then broke loose and a gunfight involving grenades in the pursuit of the two now identified terror suspects. Thus far one has been killed and one is on the run. The TV has clearly showing the areas to avoid and hopefully we can drive around it to ride to Salem to visit the witch house. Currently, there is a no fly zone over Boston. All the schools are shut, the buses, trains and taxis are grounded. Police are asking everyone to stay indoors to stop their cars being hijacked.
